Three Win Titles in GF Competition

Three area women won titles at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks that make them eligible to enter the Miss North Dakota/Miss America competition in June in Williston, ND.

Becca Lebak (Bismarck, ND) won the title of Miss Empire 2011. A freshman at Minnesota State University Moorhead, she is a former Miss North Dakota's Outstanding Teen. She performed a vocal solo for her talent, and her platform is called, "Youth Volunteerism: The Importance of Lending a Hand."

Emily Burkland (Thompson, ND) is Miss Grand Forks 2011. She is a senior at UND and a dancer and instructor for North Dakota Ballet Company. She plaed a classical piano piece for her talent and her platform is called, "Arts Advocacy: Creating Communities."

Nikki Anderson (Grand Forks, ND) is Miss Eastern Dakota 2011. She is a senior at UND and a dancer and choreographer for North Dakota Ballet Company. She performed a contemporary dance for her talent and her platform is called, "Live Inspired."

Eighteen women competed Saturday night in the Miss Grand Forks Scholarship Competition at the Empire Arts Center. The pageant featured Beth Dennison, Miss North Dakota 2011 and the reigning Miss Grand Forks.

All three local titleholders will advance to the Miss North Dakota Scholarship Pageant on June 9-11th in Williston, ND.

The Miss Grand Forks Pageant committee is Caroline Brost (Crookston, MN) Executive Director, Aly Wilhelmi (Grand Forks, ND) Director of Scholarships, and Kayla Hagfors (Fargo, ND) Treasurer.
