One of my favorite things about being Miss Empire is the opportunity I have to share my platform with people in the Red River Valley. I firmly believe that people will not listen to you or believe what you say if you don’t “walk the talk.” As Miss Empire I look forward to serving others and setting good examples for the youth in our community through my involvement in various service opportunities. I want people to know that my pageant involvement is not about wearing a sash and crown and dressing up--it’s truly about being a strong role model for people I come into contact with. I have always loved volunteering my time to create positive change, and being Miss Empire will help me encourage others to get involved and make a lasting difference in their community.
What inspires you?
Anytime I see the positive impact I have had on someone’s life I am inspired to set a higher goal for myself. One of the greatest inspirations in my life has been the accomplishments of Fill The Dome in Fargo, ND. As a high school senior, I worked with a small group of students to dream up and bring the Fill The Dome food drive to life. That effort culminated in both the largest food drive and the largest youth-led service project our community had ever seen. 2011 marked the 5th year of this annual food drive. Over those five years, Fill the Dome has brought in more than 400 tons of food and $300,000 to fight hunger in North Dakota. Seeing new groups of students prove that they can lead and expand Fill The Dome each year brings me a sense of accomplishment and inspiration.
Why should you become Miss North Dakota 2012?
Throughout my life I have strived to be the best version of myself and set good examples for my peers and those younger than me. Each year Miss North Dakota has the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of students across North Dakota. My life experiences have prepared me to speak about service and leadership, because that is truly where my passions have been even well before I started my journey to become Miss North Dakota. I am passionate about encouraging others to get involved, because I want them to experience all of the benefits that can be gained from living a life with compassion for others. I know I have the energy and determination to fulfill the job that being Miss North Dakota brings, and I hope that others see that in me also!
